The Snow Day is a Cadelcott Medal Winner for 1963, written and illustrated by Ezra Jack Keats. It is a story about a little boy named Peter who explores his neighborhood after the first snow fall.
From Wikipedia: Based on a 2007 online poll, the National Education Association named the book one of its "Teachers' Top 100 Books for Children."[8] It was #5 on a list of "Top 100 Picture Books" of all time in a 2012 poll by School Library Journal.[9]
Target Ages: Preschool and Kindergarten
Springboards for lessons: This book is great way to introduce the scientific ideas of “solid, liquid and gas” by exploring how snow melts when brought into warm temperatures.
It is also a good book to discuss seasonal changes and snow activities.
